“Kemudian saya bilang pada Mourinho: ‘Ya, tentu saja saya marah (karena dicadangkan dan tak menjadi pilihan utama). Apakah Anda berpikir saya harus tersenyum? Namun kemudian kami langsung mengobrol selama 10 menit dan peristiwa ini terlupakan begitu saja,” tambahnya.
Kemenangan The Red Devils dalam pertandingan tersebut akhirnya dipastikan melalui gol tunggal Marouane Fellaini di menit ke-90. Tak hanya mendapatkan tiga poin krusial, klub yang didirikan pada tahun 1878 itu juga sukses memastikan satu tempat di babak 16 besar.
Setelah pertandingan ini, United pun akan kembali mengalihkan fokus ke kompetisi domestik dan berusaha memperbaiki posisi mereka di klasemen sementara. David De Gea dan kawan-kawan akan melakoni tiga laga penting kontra Southampton, Arsenal, dan Fulham.
